Athens spoken word artist’s birthday show to feature poetry, live music and ‘decompression’

Athens spoken word artist Tahron "Maxim Debonair" Watkins is scheduled to perform at Ciné for "The Outlet: A Night of Spoken Word" on April 16, 2022.

Like many people in Athens, Tahron Watkins doesn’t excel at just one pursuit. And as the Classic City tends to do, his work will be acknowledged by his peers in appropriate fashion with a celebration of art and music.

On April 16, Ciné will host “The Outlet: A Night of Spoken Word” to honor Watkins’ birthday with DJ sets, spoken word performances and live R&B tunes courtesy of Misnomer. The event will take place at 8 p.m. in the downtown theater’s newly-remodeled Lab space.

Watkins, who writes and performs poetry under the name Maxim Debonair, is also the owner of Food Truck Builders A to Z and owner-operator of Damunchiezz food truck, which has specialized in Caribbean-infused barbecue since 2012 and was among the first food trucks in Athens.
