This year, the Hunter Museum of American Art celebrates 70 years here in Chattanooga – and we’re bringing you a series of conversations on its history, legacy and impact.
For this conversation, we share perspectives from artists within reach of the Hunter here in the Southeast.
– Jeffrey Morton, a painter, chairs the art department at Covenant College on Lookout Mountain.
– Baggs McKelvey does sculpture installation and mixed media art – and teaches art at Chattanooga State Community College.
– Amy Pleasant – known for painting, drawing and wall drawing – is an artist in Birmingham;
– and, Vadis Turner is a mixed-media artist in Nashville, and a lecturer at Vanderbilt University.
Our thanks to Cara McGowan and the team at the Hunter Museum for arranging this series of conversations. Stay tuned for more conversations on the Hunter at 70 here on Scenic Roots.
