Alphabet Inc.’s Google has begun making changes to how it runs its Android mobile operating system and the app store in India to comply with local antitrust orders.
The Competition Commission of India in October fined Google more than $160 million for what it said was abuse of its dominant position in the Android device ecosystem. Days later, the commission slapped another fine on the US tech giant for restricting app developers from using third-party billing and payment-processing services. In both cases, the regulator ordered Google to take corrective measures.
